Getting to Swat
Take the M-1 and the Malakand road through Chakdara to Mingora, the main city of the valley. From Mingora, roads lead north towards Madyan, Bahrain and Kalam, and east towards Malam Jabba.
Best places to visit in Swat
- Swat Museum and Butkara Stupa near Saidu Sharif, for Buddhist heritage.
- Marghazar and the White Palace.
- Fizagat Park on the river.
- Malam Jabba, with ski slopes in winter and a hill resort feel in summer.
- Madyan and Bahrain, the river towns with trout, bazaars and waterfalls.
- Mahodand and Ushu towards Kalam in the upper valley.
Where to stay
Mingora and Saidu Sharif have well-known hotels, Madyan and Bahrain have riverside guesthouses, and Malam Jabba has a resort area. We are an independent car with driver service, not a hotel agent: confirm rooms and rates with the hotel, and tell us where you are staying.
Best time to go
Spring to autumn is most comfortable. In winter, Malam Jabba has snow and skiing, but roads can be icy, so go with an experienced driver and check conditions.
