Routes from Islamabad
Most visitors take the road through Murree and Kohala to Muzaffarabad, or the Hazara route through Abbottabad and Garhi Habibullah. Both are mountain roads with bends and traffic at weekends, so an early start and an experienced driver make a real difference.
- Islamabad to Muzaffarabad: typically three to four hours.
- Muzaffarabad to Keran and Sharda in Neelum Valley: a long mountain day, often broken with a night in Keran.
- Pir Chinasi and Banjosa Lake are shorter side trips from the main road.

- Muzaffarabad: Red Fort, the Neelum and Jhelum rivers meeting point and the city bazaars.

Best time to go
April to October is the main window for Neelum Valley. Monsoon rain can cause landslides, and winter snow closes upper roads, so ask us about conditions before you set a date.
