The route
Take the M-2 motorway towards Lahore and exit at Kallar Kahar. From there local roads lead to the lake, Katas Raj and Choa Saidan Shah. Chakwal city is a short drive on the Talagang road.

- Takht-e-Babri, the hilltop spot linked to the first Mughal emperor.
- Bagh-e-Safa, the garden near the lake.
- Katas Raj Temples, an ancient Hindu complex around a sacred pond.
- Choa Saidan Shah, a green valley town with a famous shrine.
- Khewra Salt Mine, the large salt mine and visitor area, a bit further on.
Where to stay
Kallar Kahar has a few hotels such as Escape Hotel, and Chakwal city has options like Islamabad Guest House on the Talagang road. Choices are limited compared with big cities, so many visitors do it as a day trip. We are an independent car with driver service, not a hotel agent: confirm rooms and rates with the hotel.
Best time to go
October to March is the most pleasant. Summers are hot, so plan the lake and temples for early morning or late afternoon.
